RIHIVELI is located on the MALE Atoll, 60 minutes speedboat transfer from Malé International Airport is necessary to reach the hotel.

Our bungalows are designed for comfort, and positioned to catch the fabulous sunrise, sunset, and all the amazing views in between. Every morning, watch the glowing sun rays set Sunrise Island and Birds Island ablaze, their brightness reflecting off the water’s surface and tiptoeing across the undulating waves. In the evening, witness the fiery streaks of colour that spray the sky with crimson, flaming red, firebrick and russet.

All 48 bungalows open to astounding sea views, while a few metres away is the invitingly warm and clear lagoon water. At about 32sq m each, the bungalow offers all the comforts of home, without the distractions of modern living.

Refurbished only in 2006, each bungalow’s thatched roof, wood floor and rustic furnishings reinforce the back-to-basics setting. Ceiling fans whirl overhead, and an outdoor shower in the Deluxe Bungalow complements the indoor bathroom. Right outside your door are a generously sized terrace, and your own private garden complete with a hammock and two day beds.

Double/Twin Bungalow
The bungalow has double/twin beds. You’ll enjoy views of the amazing Indian Ocean whether from your door, terrace, private garden, hammock or deck chairs. The water is only four metres away from the terrace.

Triple Bungalow
The bungalow has three beds. You’ll love the wind in your hair as you relax in your hammock, or prepare to acquire a lovely golden tan. At night, the moon and stars cast a romantic glow over the powdery sands, and light up your private garden.

Deluxe Bungalow
The bungalow has three beds – a double bed, a day bed, an indoor bathroom and an outdoor shower. You’ll get breathtaking sea views, glorious sunsets, sand at your doorstep and 28-degree Celsius water four metres away. You also have uninterrupted views of water sports enthusiasts in action!

Family Bungalow
The bungalow has four beds, and is ideal for people travelling with children. With generous spaces inside and outside, everyone has his or her own piece of tropical paradise... unparalleled vista of the Indian Ocean included!

Deluxe Villa
The spacious duplex is ideal for a party of four or five people. It offers king-sized and single beds, a separate living room, and unbeatable views of the sunrise and our two private islets. With such glorious scenery, it’s no wonder residents prefer to spend their time outdoors.

Communal Hall
The communal hall is a source of entertainment with indoor games such as board games (backgammon, card games), American and French billiards and table tennis. Petanque/lawn bowling is available just outside the hall.

Library
The library, located at the communal hall, is stocked with titles spanning fiction and non-fiction. Select your favorites to curl up in your hammock with.

Boutique
Every resort must have its little shop of wonders! Our boutique is stocked with local titbits, handmade keepsakes, books, hats, t-shirts, shorts, skirts, saucy and sedate swimwear, scarves, stationery and an array of sundry items. Why not personalize your t-shirt or gift? – our on-site printing services can get it done… pronto!

Balinese-style massage centre
Surrender to the healing touch of our masseuses as they ease the tight knots out of your muscles. Adept in different massage techniques, they’ll help you embark on a journey of perfect bliss and absolute relaxation.

Meal times are the best occasions to make new friends, or catch up with people you met on your last visit. The communal seating arrangement at the resort over-water restaurant – where tables are set for four, six or eight diners – and cosy restaurant size favour interaction, and contribute to a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.

Cuisines
There’s a different cuisine every day, inspired by menus that span French, Italian and Maldivian, or are better described as being international or Asian. There’s also a daily barbecue lunch at Sunrise Island; it’s hugely popular and places are limited to only 20 people, so signing up at breakfast time is a must! Dinner is either buffet or set menu, and is served at the resort restaurant or occasionally, at the beach.

For special occasions, we can prepare an exclusive a la carte seafood dinner at the beach, with choice of prawns, lobsters or meat, accompanied by side dishes, salads and dessert.

Daily at 5.30pm (except during Ramadan, the Muslim fasting month), guests are invited to join our staff at the staff canteen for afternoon tea and biscuits.

Fun bar
If there is a focal point for everyone at the resort, then the resort bar must be it. Much larger than a conventional bar with a long counter and bar stools, it is part of a communal hall with comfortable sofa/lounge seats and card tables

This is where residents converge for an afternoon cuppa, ice-cream treat, beer, snack or leisurely chat. Pre-dinner cocktails are served al fresco outside the bar so that residents can enjoy the spectacular sunset.

After dinner, our staff will engage guests in rousing competitions like bingo, animation, card games and such, with prizes including free drinks and barbecue seafood dinner at the beach, complemented by loads of good-natured teasing and heartfelt camaraderie.
