Deep in the heart of a small suburb of Mahebourg, discover a unique handicraft manioc biscuit factory, over 125 years old. Then proceed to Pointe d’Esny to go to Ile aux Aigrettes by boat. It is the last refuge of the Ebony forest, endemic animals & plant species. Finish the day by visiting La Vanille Reserve des Mascareignes. This park homes giant tortoises, reptiles, crocodiles and an impressive collection of butterflies and insects.

After a visit to the famous botanical garden of Pamplemousses, you will be taken to the “Sugar Adventure”, a sugar factory turned into a Museum and a site full of surprise, which recalls the history of sugar and the origin of the population of Mauritius. A replica of the first sugar mill, the rum distillery and the spice garden, will amaze you.

Follow the guide to Floréal and Curepipe for bonanza shopping. Curepipe, the second most important town is the heaven of shopping lovers. Shopping can be done in the factory and duty free shops of Floréal. Cashmere, carpets, jewellery, ready made clothes are available and good value for money. There will be a stop in Curepipe at the ship model factory. Ship models from Mauritius are quite famous. When shopping is over in Floréal, there will be a short visit of Curepipe and Trou aux Cerfs, an extinct crater situated at 650 metres above sea level. It offers a beautiful view on the Moka range and right up to the sea. From Curepipe proceed to Grand Bassin or Ganga Talao, a sacred place of worship to the Hindu community. It is a crater lake surrounded by luxuriant forests. Drive along the National Park to see Black River Gorges where endemic forests are the natural habitat of protected fauna and flora species. The final stops will be Chamarel Cascade and the Coloured Earth, before starting on the way back.

Visit of the impressive and splendid colonial mansion of Les Aubineaux, the home of a tea-estate owner. The Pirates Cruise is an unforgettable trip on board “La Caroline” a 34-foot wooden sailing boat, the genuine replica of a pirate boat. Spend an enjoyable day cruising around Ilot Mangenie, Ile aux Cerfs, and admiring the waterfall of Grande Rivière Sud Est. The ever changing turquoise lagoon, the green lush vegetation, the soft sea breeze, everything contributes to a pure sense of elation. Spend two hours sunbathing and relaxing on the fine white sand beaches of Ile aux Cerfs or doing some water activities. A seafood and chicken BBQ will be served on “La Caroline”. A marvellous experience, when leaving the main lagoon surrounding the island, to meet the turquoise and crystal clear waters of Ile Plate and Ilot Gabriel which are about 14 km away in the North of Grand Bay village. Leave the hotel for the Sunset Boulevard in the village of Grand Bay. Boarding the catamaran and briefing with the skipper before starting the cruise. Leave the Jetty for a 2-hour sail towards the Northern islands, passing near the “Gunner’s coin” which is the sanctuary of marine birds. Reaching the islands, you will have the possibility to snorkel, with equipment available free of charge. Non swimmers will be transferred on the beach of the island by boat. In the meantime, the skippers prepare the BBQ lunch.

With less than 10 similar possibilities throughout the World, this wonderful adventure is worth being experimented. During one hour, comfortably seated in an air-conditioned cabin under atmospheric pressure, discover the magnificence of the undersea world, 30 metre deep: colourful corals, glittering fish and the forever rested “Star Hope wreck”. Safety certificates are issued yearly to the submarines by international safety control organisation such as Bureau Veritas. Permanent contact is maintained with the surface boat through the use of ultrasonic phones. Air, water and food available for 3 days.

What a wonderful experience to cruise underwater by 3 meters depth on board of it’s own twin submarine, and thus in full safety ! This unique submarine in the world, called “Sub Scooter” reminds us of either a James Bond movie or the famous cartoon of Tintin and Milou. The riders sit one behind the other as on a scooter, with their head covered by a transparent dome providing a panoramic view of the reef and all the important air to breathe naturally, without the need of a regulator in the mouth. Riders can therefore express their instant delight to each other underwater. A dive will take about 30 minutes, led and supervised by two qualified dive guide. Available for anyone over 12 year’s old, even non swimmers, but in good physical condition.

This outing is done along the west coast, from the Bay of Tamarind to the cliffs of Médine, the only areas where dolphins can be seen. It is a unique moment and an awakening of the senses.
